Passing Strange the movie is the Spike Lee-directed film featuring the award-winning Broadway rock musical, “Passing Strange”. The Broadway show won the Tony Award in 2008 for Best Book of a Musical and in total received seven Tony nominations, including Best Musical.

The show also won: Best Musical: Drama Desk Award; Best Musical: New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award; Best New American Theater Piece: Obie Award; and Best Ensemble Performance: Obie Award.
